Victor Ledell Washington, 46, a native of Grove Hill and resident of Jackson, departed this life July 29, 2017 at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson.

He was born Oct. 20, 1970 to the parentage of Claudia and Neal Washington. At an early age Victor confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Pine Chapel No. 1 Baptist Church. He later joined Little Rock Baptist Church in Gosport, where he used his musical talent serving God. He reunited with the Pine Chapel No. 1 Baptist Church, where he continued using his gift of music until his death.

Victor was a 1989 graduate of Clarke County High School and a member of the Royal Band of Blue, where he played the trumpet. He was employed as the facilities manager at Windsor Manor in Jackson.

Left to forever cherish his memories are his loving and devoted mother, Claudia Washington, Redford, Mich.; five devoted brothers, Christopher (Michelle) Washington, Williamsburg, Va., Keyet (Stephanie) Washington, Redford, Gillespie (Crystal) Washington, Midway, Ga., Russell Rivers, Tuscaloosa and Adrian Robinson, Jackson; he was a father-figure to NaKenya and VJ; and had eight aunts, six uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, two devoted, Elbert Welch and Cliff Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his father Neal Washington. 

Public viewing will be Friday, Aug. 4 from 1 until 6 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. The service will be Saturday, Aug. 5 with viewing from 10 until the 11 a.m. homegoing service at Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church in Grove Hill. Rev. William Jackson is pastor and Rev. Tommie Lee Chapman will be officiating minister. Interment will follow in the Pine Chapel No. 1 Cemetery in Grove Hill.
