Della Mae Dickinson Welch, 77, a native of Grove Hill and resident of Scyrene, was born Dec. 29, 1939 to Alvin and Jessie Martin Dickinson. She was a member of Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church, where she attended until her health declined. She passed away Sept. 7, 2017.

Della Mae enjoyed cooking and watching soap opera and spending time with her family.

Della Mae leaves to cherish her sweet memories a devoted son, Richard Dickinson, Grove Hill; two stepdaughters, Barbara J. Taite, Mobile and Jackie Carsterphen, Detroit, Mich.; devoted step-granddaughter, Roshanda Weatherly Johns, Lower Peach Tree; sister, Barbara Jean Jackson, Jackson; two brothers, Alvin James (Christine) Dickinson, Grove Hill and Jimmy (Willadia) Dickinson, Long Island, N.Y.; two devoted nieces, Tammy Dickinson, Grove Hill and Dianna Dickinson, Thomasville; special friends, Floretta Taite, Scyrene and Claudine Calhoun, Ozark; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Welch Jr.; sister, Cassie Bell Dickinson; brothers, Leon Dickinson and Bernard Dickinson.

Public viewing will be Friday, Sept. 15, from 2 until 6 p.m., at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 16, at Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church, 2930 Mt. Zion Road, Grove Hill, AL. The Rev. William Jackson, pastor, will be the officiating minister. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church Cemetery.
