Edna Florence Coleman, 85, of Jackson, departed this life Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at the University of South Alabama Hospital in Mobile.

She was born Aug. 9, 1932, she was the daughter of Nelson and Mary Minor Dubose. Later in life she met and married Johnnie L. Coleman Sr. She joined Jackson Street Baptist Church. She was a seamstress at Vanity Fair for a number of years. She loved to sew, cook, plant flowers and fish.

Edna leaves to forever cherish her precious memories her son, Johnnie L. (Sandra) Coleman Jr.; three daughters, Patricia A. Coleman, Emma J. Howell and Sandra Mr. Coleman, all of Jackson; three granddaughters, Cassandra (Derrick) Burroughs, Mexia, Erica Gillespie, Smyrna, Tenn., Tanisha Coleman, Flint, Mich.; four grandsons, Craig (Cynthia) Coleman, Raleigh, N.C., James (Tanya) Howard Jr., Thomasville, VaShun (Tonya) Coleman, Los Angeles, Calif., Christopher (Vernita) Howard, Opelika; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Mark Anthony Ferrell; three brothers and three sisters.

The service was Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. at Jackson Street Baptist Church followed by burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor James Howard Jr. officiating the service and Dr. Lenoise Richey as pastor.
