L.C. James, 77, of Jackson passed away Sept. 20, 2017 at Mobile Infirmary.

He was born Aug. 26, 1940 to William Curtis and Laura Delia James. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church. He served in numerous positions including music director, deacon and Sunday School teacher. He took great pride in his work as a master carpenter and enjoyed fishing, gardening and visiting with his many friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lula H. James; sons, Jody Anthony James, Joshua Franklin (Jennifer) James, Brandon Levi James; grandchildren, Jacob Micah Roberts, Jasper Mason Roberts, Harley Dianne James, Kayla Danielle James; brother, John (Joyce) James and sister-in-law, Janice Overstreet.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Harrison James and siblings, Arnell Overstreet, Ruby Gray (Glen) Murphy, J.B. James and Eloise (Chuck) Carpenter .

The service was Sept. 23 at 12 p.m. at Peniel Baptist Church with Revs. Carey Howard, Benny Harrison and Leon Harrison officiating. Interment followed at Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Rodney Harrison, Corey Harrison, Wayne Harrison, Johnny Murphy, Charles Jackson and Joe Overstreet.

Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Peniel Baptist Church.
