Gladys Voncile Long, 84, of Sweet Water, died Oct. 24, 2017 at Thomasville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 29, 1933 in Clarke County to Lamar Austin and Willie Mae Williams. She was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church in Sweet Water. She was a former seamstress, merchant and hospital volunteer.

Survivors include her two sons, Tommie Lamar Anderson, Clifton Craig Anderson Sr.; daughter, Vanessa Jane Stephens; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Charles Long Jr.; parents; two sons, David Darell Anderson, James Woodie Anderson; brother, Grady William; six sisters, Elsie Smith, Nora Newsom, Juanita Walker, Irene Vaughn, Dot Harrison and Annell Yoder; two grandchildren, Derek Stoudenmire and Sarah Anderson.

The service was Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at Old Union Baptist Church with Andy Etheredge, and Revs. Thomas Anderson and Mike Brening officiating. Burial was in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water.

Active pallbearers were Rex Leonard, Trey Cook, Thomas Anderson, Tommy Goff, Clifford Huggins and Larry Dyess.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Old Union Baptist Church.
