Ester Mae Harris Jones, 83, a native of Mt. Vernon and resident of Saraland, traded time for eternity Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, while at Mobile Infirmary.

She was born Oct. 13, 1934 to Annie Mae and Jim Harris. Ester was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and under watch care at New Faith Praise and Worship in Mobile. She loved cooking, fishing and spending time with family.

Left to cherish her memories are six daughters, Betty (Isaac) Lewis and Diane (Curtis) White, both of Mt. Vernon, Earnestine Crockett, Axis, Huey Mae (Larry) Wimberly, Saraland, Rose ( John) Lewis of Malcom and Kathy (Benjamin) Scott of Satsuma; one adopted son, Kelsa Jones, Mt. Vernon; one brother, Stanley (Pam) Harris, Atlanta, Ga.; devoted caregiver, Clarence (Arkyla) Roberts, grandson of Saraland; with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Lee Jones Sr.; son, Hugh Lee Jones Jr.; and daughter, Lawanda Jones.

The service was Dec. 2 at 12 noon at First Church of God No. 1 in Mt. Vernon. Rev. Clifford Mitchell is pastor and Pastor Lorenzo Stewart was the officiating minister. Interment followed in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
