Rev. Marion Oscar Ball, 89, of Jackson passed away March 9, 2018 at his residence.

He was born Oct. 6, 1928. He was presently pastoring at Asbury Baptist Church in Grove Hill. He was a southern Baptist minister for over 68 years. He also served as a hospice minister. He was an avid outdoorsman and renowned story teller of his life and adventures including surviving polio. Rev. Ball was a devoted husband and poppy and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Carrol Jean Williams Ball, Jackson; two daughters, Irma Jean B. (Jimmy) Gunter, Delita Lynn B. (Ron) Potter, Huntsville; four grandchildren, Dustin Potter, Blaine Potter, Cole Gunter, Chase Gunter; three great-grandchildren, Lyla Potter, Lilly Potter, Jackson Lee Potter; one brother, Rev. Kenneth Ball, Petal, Miss.; two half-brothers, Lemmie Ball, Lucedale, Miss., Ernie Hillman, California; one half-sister, Rena Harrison, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Everett Ball and Florence Mello Turner Ball; sister, Arlene Crawley.

The service was March 12 at 11 a.m. at Peniel Baptist Church in Jackson with Rev. Kenneth Ball, Ron Potter and Dustin Potter officiating. Interment was in the Peniel Cemetery in Jackson.

Serving as pallbearers were Dustin Potter, Cole Gunter, Blaine Potter, Chase Gunter, Mike Ball and Steven Williams.
