Deacon George Marvin Jackson, 69, of Gosport, transitioned to be with his Lord on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018 while at the Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1949 to Louiselle and Nancy Hazewood Jackson. He confessed Christ at an early age, uniting with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grove Hill. Later, he married Corene Johnson Jackson. George joined the Little Rock Baptist Church, where he became active throughout the church serving in various capacities including Chairman of Deacons and Sunday School Superintendent.

George leaves to forever cherish his memories his loving wife, Corene J. Jackson, Gosport; three children, George (Mercedes) Jackson and Britney Jackson, both of Whatley, Myeshia Caldwell, New York, N.Y.; one sister, Thelma (L.D.) Jackson, Grove Hill; three stepchildren, Zasque (Donnie) McMillian, Antoinette Johnson and Terrance (Sheila) Johnson, all of Excel; one grandbaby; a devoted aunt, Mae Burroughs, Grove Hill; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friend, Author Morris of Gosport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louiselle and Nancy Jackson.

Public viewing will be Friday, Aug. 10, from 1 until 6 p.m., at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 E. Ross Street, Jackson, AL 36545. A service will be Saturday, Aug. 11, with visitation from 1 until the 2 p.m. homegoing celebration at Little Rock Baptist Church of Gosport, with Rev. Roderick Scott, pastor, as officiating minister. Interment will be in the Little Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
