Ruth Madison Johnson, 70, a resident of the Pleasant Hill community of Thomasville, answered the Master’s call July 31, 2018 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 15, 1948 to Flavor and Lucy Pugh Madison. Ruth attended A.L. Martin High School in Thomasville and received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Daniel Payne College. She loved cooking and encouraging others.

Left to cherish her loving memories are three daughters, Diapinne Ruthvettia Johnson and Jerry Ann Stacy, both of Thomasville, and Shaneathia Renodia Johnson, Tuscaloosa; two sons, Shawn Demistric Johnson and Fernando L. (Misty) Pugh, both of Thomasville; seven grandchildren; five sisters, Cora Lee Welch, Mobile, Ora Lee Calhoun and Bettye Madison, both of Thomasville, Marie Weaver, Fulton and Lucille Madison of New York, N.Y.; a devoted spiritual sister, Margaret Calhoun of Grove Hill; with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, were her grandmother, Ola Rhone and siblings, Roy Madison and an infant sister.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at Rock West A.M.E. Church Cemetery with Rev. Willie Denson, pastor and Rev. Jesse Rivers as officiating minister.
