Arson charged

Two men have been arrested and charged with arson in connection with the burning of a barn on the Asbury Road in Grove Hill.

Jessie Keith “Kotton” Dunn of Monroeville and Rodney Pearson of Thomasville were arrested by the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department Sunday and charged with setting the fire that destroyed the barn of Millor Powell Jr. early on the morning of April 27.

The pair may have intended to burn Powell’s home but opted for the barn instead, said Sheriff Ray Norris. The motive appears to be domestic-related.

The sheriff’s department had posted a photo of Dunn on Facebook inquiring about him. A Poarch Tribal Police officer recognized him and reported him.
