Joanna Victoria Baldwin, 54, a native of the Winn community and a resident of Jackson, answered the Master’s call Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, while at her residence.
Joanna was born on March 8, 1968 to the Rev. Ethel M. Thomas Baldwin and the Rev. Levester Baldwin.
Early in life Joanna joined the Carlton A.O.H Church under the leadership of her grandfather, Elder Frank Thomas Sr. Joanna was a faithful member and served on the Usher Board. Joanna loved cooking, planting flowers, shopping, spending time with her favorite aunt, Elder Mary Harmon and talking on the phone. She loved church and her family; her favorite song was, “Let It Be Real.”
Left to cherish her memory is one sister, Elder Lenora (Ashton) Williams of Jackson; three brothers, Leslie Baldwin of Foley, Jonathan (Sandra) Baldwin of Mobile and Elder Quincy (Rev. Felisha) Baldwin of Jackson; three nephews, Jack (Patrice) Stephens III, Artimus L. Martin and Qunicy ( Jennifer) Baldwin Jr.; two nieces, Janae Baldwin and Alesia Baldwin; five aunts, Elder Mary Harmon, Mable ( Johnnie) Chapman, Dorthy Williams, Janette Lockett and Mary Beckham; two god-daughters, Ashley Tanner and Angel Chapman; two god-sisters, Mable (Anthony) Bettis and Surbrina (Author) Mitchell; one god-brother, Reginald Malone; and her Carlton A.O.H. Church family, with a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her grandparents, Elder Frank Thomas Sr. and Carrie Thomas, and Clinton Baldwin and Aundria Baldwin.
Service was Wednesday, Aug. 31, 1 p.m., at Carlton A.O.H. Church, 410 South Lake Road in Carlton. Elder Eldridge Jackson Jr. is pastor and Elder Quincy L. Baldwin Sr. was the eulogist. Interment followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery, 1076 Center St., Jackson.
Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
