Baptist block party a big hit




Estimates varied on the size of the crowd for the Grove Hill Baptist Church's Back to School Block Party Saturday, ranging anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000. Estimates varied on the size of the crowd for the Grove Hill Baptist Church’s Back to School Block Party Saturday, ranging anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000. Suffice to say, the crowd was huge and everyone had a wonderful time. Above, some of the crowd set up their lawn chairs in front of the church. At far left the Christian band “Broken Vessels,” provided entertainment. At near left, Rev. Lee Merck, the church’s pastor, took the opportunity to talk to the crowd about their salvation.
