Leroy High School Bears played on the road Friday night at Chickasaw High School and defeated the Chieftains 35-7 to improve to 4-2, 4-0 on the season.
The Bears got things going in the first quarter on a 53-yard touchdown run by Jeb Rice. Trey Sullivan kicked the PAT to give Leroy a 7-0 lead with 8:04 to play in the first period.
Rice scored again on a two-yard touchdown run and Sullivan kicked the extra point to give the Bears a 14-0 lead with 2:14 to go in the first quarter.
Jakobi Jackson got a pick-six for the Bears as the first half came to a close. Jackson returned the interception 96-yards for the touchdown and Sullivan made the point after to give Leroy a 21-0 halftime lead.
Jonte Peoples scored a touchdown on a seven-yard run with 7:36 to play in the third period. Sullivan made the PAT and Leroy led 28-0.
The Bears last score came on another pick-six, this time by Kade Moseley. Moseley returned the interception 74-yards for the score and Sullivan kicked the PAT. Leroy led 35-0 with 1:18 to play in the third quarter.
Chickasaw scored a touchdown on a two-yard run in the fourth quarter to make the final score 35-7.
For Leroy, Rice was 3 of 5 passing for 29-yards and rushed for two TD’s of 53- yards and two-yards, Moseley had 42-yards rushing on two carries and was 2 of 5 passing for 25- yards and two INT’s. and Peoples had 83-yards on 12 carries.
Leroy plays next at Cottage Hill Christian on Friday, October 12 at 7 p.m.
