C-W Fair starts Friday

The annual Clarke-Washington Counties Fair opens Friday, Oct. 28 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 5 with the exception of Sunday, Oct. 30.

The fair is sponsored by the Jackson Area Rotary Club and is held at the Cecil E. McMullan Fairgrounds on Highway 43 at Stanley Drive.

Gates open daily at 5 p.m. Saturday matinees at noon. Admission is $5. Special K-12 student admission prices from noon until 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 are $3.

Midnight Madness on Fridays Oct. 28 and Nov. 4 feature ride arm bands for $13 from 10 p.m. until midnight.

Special events include:

Saturday, Oct. 29: 4-H Chick Chain Show and Auction under the Big Tent at 1 p.m., Little Miss Pageant (Girls ages through 9), 6 p.m. with registration from 4:30-5:30; Junior Miss Pageant (Girls ages 10-17), 7 p.m. with registration 5-6. These are for Clarke and Washington County contestants only.

Monday, Oct. 31: Clarke County 4-H Dairy Show (South Tent Area), 6 p.m.; Miss Clarke-Washington Fair Queen Pageant, 7 p.m. This is for senior girls, Clarke and Washington County contestants only.

Wednesday, Nov. 2: Live music with Tim Roberts under the Big Tent, 7 p.m.

Carnival rides and games are by Mississippi Delta Shows.
