Tyrone Moye received 88 percent of the vote in the Jackson City Hall box to give him a big win over incumbent District 4 Clarke County Commissioner Joe Hunt in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.

Moye, a Jackson mortician, won the nomination with over 57 percent of the vote. There is no Republican candidate so Moye is virtually guaranteed to win the post.

Moye polled 610 votes in the district, which includes part of Jackson and the south and southeastern parts of the county.

Hunt received 311 votes, or just over 29 percent. Teri Tidwell had 140 votes, or about 13 percent.

“I thank God for it and I thank my wife [Bridgette] and the people,” Moye said immediately after the final votes were tallied.

Hunt said he wanted to thank the people who voted for him and said he had enjoyed serving. He also congratulated Moye on his win.
