THE CLARKE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL OLD TIMERS will meet Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. in the CCHS cafeteria. The honored class will be the Class of 1959. Please bring a covered dish and pay $2 each at the registration table. If you attended CCHS for a short period of time – you are an old timer! (The CCHS cheerleaders will conduct tours of the new building after the noon meal.)

BBQ AND BAKE SALE benefit for Wayne Courtney will be held Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Coffeeville across from Greer’s. All proceeds will go toward medical expenses for Wayne who sustained multiple injuries in an accident March 7. Donations will be accepted. CHAMBER AND PALS PLANS SPRING CLEAN UP AND THE GROVE HILL AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE along with Alabama PALS (People Against A Littered State) and the Clarke County Citizens Against Litter Committee will be conducting a spring clean up campaign during the month of April. Grove Hill will host a clean up day on Saturday, April 25 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Free trash bags and gloves will be available at the chamber office for those who are picking up litter and trash. There will also be water and refreshments to those who participate. Come by the chamber that morning, sign up, and get your supplies. Call the chamber office at 275-4188 if you would like to be assigned to a road or area to pick up trash. Volunteers are needed to pick up trash around town. Door prizes and awards will be given out to volunteers who work and turn in the necessary forms.

THE CLARKE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY will meet Sunday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall. A speaker whose last appearance was canceled due to illness, is once again scheduled to speak at the Clarke County Historical Society at its regular meeting Sunday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. at Grove Hill Town Hall. Local author and historian Joyce Burrage whose newspaper columns have been combined into a book, “Only the Rose Remains,” plans to give Society members “the stories behind the stories.” She will also be on hand to autograph copies of her book. The public is invited to attend.

THE ANNUAL CLANTON REUNION will be held Sunday, April 26 at 12:45 p.m. Descendants of George and Janie Clanton will gather at the home of Henry and Kathleen Dunagan in Coffeeville for a covered dish luncheon. Other relatives and friends are invited. All those who can are encouraged to attend the First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Clanton were faithful members along with several of the children.

GROVE HILL ARTS COUNCIL announces Art in the Park Sunday, April 26 from 1 until 5 p.m. at the Laurie Carleton Park on Courthouse Square in Grove Hill. Lots of arts and crafts vendors, old-timey wagon rides, funnel cakes and fried candy bars. Admission is free. Held in conjunction with the 4th Annual Photography Contest and the Opening of “Barns” Exhibit at the Cultural Arts Center. The Photography Contest Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. There will be local musicians and dance team will add a country flavor to the day.

VFW POST 5106 and its ladies auxiliary will have its regular monthly meeting Monday, April 27 at 7 p.m. All members are invited to attend this regular monthly meeting. After the meeting their will be a pizza supper.

CLARKE PREP SCHOOL will hold K-4 Registration April 27th at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Contact the school for more information.
