Help senior citizens who are in need have a Merry Christmas

Christmas…the most wonderful time of the year! But not for everyone. Many needy seniors never experience the joys of Christmas. You can change this by partnering with ATRC Aging to sponsor a senior for the 4th Annual Santa for Seniors service project.

Non-identifying information about needy senior citizens within ATRC’S 10- county region will be placed on Christmas cards along with a list of items requested by the senior. ATRC Case Managers have chosen the neediest seniors in the area as Santa for Seniors recipients.

Many are low-income, homebound and alone. Most of the requests are for everyday items such as cleaning supplies, bed linens, adult diapers, and other necessities.

Christmas cards with the wish lists of these seniors may be requested during October 24 – November 11 by calling ATRC Aging, 334-682-5206 or 888-617- 0500. Please consider becoming a Santa for Seniors sponsor and purchasing the items requested.

Tax deductible monetary donations are also welcome and will be used to purchase items requested by our seniors.

According to Director Delia Brand, “The COVID- 19 pandemic has continued to present challenges for all people in 2022, but especially for older individuals who have been more isolated from the family and friends they depended upon for support and companionship.

In addition, inflation has been especially hard on those who are on fixed incomes. We hope you’ll help bring a smile to a needy senior this Christmas season.”

Wrapped or unwrapped presents can be delivered by November 30 to the Area Agency on Aging, 3 Camden Bypass, Camden, AL.
