The Clarke County Historical Society is canceling its Jan. 30 meeting due to the resurgence of Covid-19 via the Omicron variant. Chris McIllwain, a Tuscaloosa attorney who has authored several books, most with Civil War themes, was to speak. He will be rescheduled later in the year.
Jim Cox, president of the historical society, said, “We hate to cancel this meeting. Chris is an excellent historian but we need to err on the side of caution because Omicron is so highly contagious. We will have him speak to us later.”
