Lady Bulldogs end season in Montgomery

The Clarke County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team ended its season May 16 after three games in the 4A state tournament.

CCHS was 1-2 in games played in Lagoon Park in Montgomery.

The Lady Bulldogs lost their first game 2-1 May 15 to Central High School of Florence.

Sally Jordan was the losing pitcher. She pitched 7 innings, and allowed 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and struck out 5.

Both Kalisha Hudson and Kiana Coates had 1 hit.

CCHS came back to win 4- 1 over Cordova Friday evening.

Sally Jordan was the winning pitcher. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 1 hit, I run, 1 earned run and struck out 8.

Casen Young had 2 hits, and Kiana Barganier and Madison Newton both had 1 hit .

Unfortunately, the Lady Dawgs bowed out of the state tournament Saturday with a 7-0 loss toWestminster Christian Academy.

Sally Jordanwas the losing pitcher. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 7 hits, 7 runs, 3 earned runs, 2 home runs, and struck out 7.

 

 

Janeah Finney and Hudson both had 2 hits, and Ashley Daffin had 1 hit.

The Lady Bulldogs’ final season record is 24-10. They earned the Class 4A, Area 3 championship.

“We had a really good season,” said head coach Chris Young. “I’m really proud of the girls. They found a way to get out of (the regionals in) Gulf Shores and get to Montgomery.”

The Lady Bulldogs faced some tough competition in Montgomery. “We didn’t play our best ball in some of the games. Everybody there is good. You’ve got to play those games without making mistakes to have a chance towin.

“…We’ve got a good group coming back (for the 2016 season),” the coach said. CCHS is losing two seniors, Vernnetta Richardson and Kiana Coates.

“Hopefully, they (the returning players) will be hungry and want to go to work sowe can get back to the state tournament again.” The success this year will put a target on the Lady Bulldogs’ back for next season, Young said. Opponents will be even more eager next season to beat CCHS.
