Henry Lee Mitchell Sr., 75, a resident of Jackson, traded time for eternity on Saturday, April 23, 2022, while at Saad Hospice in Mobile.

He was born on May 11, 1946 to the parentage of Annie Bell Mitchell and Sim Mitchell Sr., Henry was a retired operator of Thomasville Lumber Company. He was a very hard working man and a great family provider. A very quiet man, he loved listening to music and fishing during his spare time.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife, Clara Edna Foreman Mitchell of Jackson; children, May Williams of Mobile, Shalanda Mitchell, Daniel Deshawn (Jennifer) Mitchell, Amanda (Nicholas Sr.) Fox and Aaron Lamar Mitchell, all of Jackson, and Henry Lee (Niecy) Mitchell Jr. of Camden; eight grandchildren, LaShayla, Darrell, Amber, Angel, David, Jessica, Floyd and Angie; two great-grandchildren, Tamar and Demarius; four brothers, Jerry (Debra) Mitchell and Sylvester (Opal) Mitchell, both of California, Levon (Geral) Mitchell and Helbert Mitchell, both of Mobile; six sisters, Ella May Tate, Elizabeth Style, Izola Simms and Brenda (Derrick) Prewitt, all of California, Sallie May Williams of Jackson and Linda Mitchell, both of Mobile; four brothers-inlaw, five sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a devoted friends, John “Bubba” Jackson and Eldridge Jackson Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Bell Mitchell and Sim Mitchell Sr.; brothers, Charles Mitchell, Sim Mitchell Jr. and Bobby Mitchell; sister, Dorothy Mitchell; and grandson, Nicholas Fox Jr.

Public viewing will be held Tuesday, May 3 from 4 until 6 p.m. at the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Wednesday, May 4 at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery at 1076 Center Street in Jackson.
