Montgomery man arrested for January burglary of Grove Hill’s Food Mart

An arrest has been made in the early morning Jan. 21 burglary of the Food Mart (formerly Jr. Food Mart) in Grove Hill.

Larry Lamont Lewis, 36, of Montgomery was arrested in Lee County and is being held in jail there, said Ron Baggette, chief investigator for the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department.

Baggette had lifted fingerprints at the store that came back to Lewis and law authorities had been looking for him.

He is said to be a suspect in homicides in Montgomery.

Baggette used Lewis’ cell phone to place him at the store the morning of the robbery. Checks of his internet usage revealed searches for convenience stores, gasoline stations and Dollar General stores in rural areas. Baggette suspects he may be involved in other burglaries and robberies in the area and state.

He also suspects he may have a connection to the burglary of the Fast Track convenience store in Grove Hill a while back.
