Fred Allen Motes, 85, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Washington County Nursing Home.

He was born in Salitpa on Wednesday, July 29, 1936. He was a member of River Hill Baptist Church and a self-employed painter. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Keith (Candace) Motes; grandchildren, Hannah (Adam) Jackson, Adam (Kristy) Motes, Andy Motes, Dallas Motes; great-grandchildren, Hunter Jackson, A.J. Jackson, Autumn Motes, Oakleigh Motes; brother. Thomas (Glenda) Motes and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Motes, Ruby Hutchinson Motes; wife, Margie Woodard Motes; daughter, Gail Sullivan and siblings, James Samuel Motes, Jr., Alton Motes, Frank Motes and Eva Mae Hoven.

A graveside service will be Friday, March 25 at 11 a.m. at River Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jackson with Rev. Renea Henderson officiating.
