Curtis Dan Outlaw, 92, of Jackson, passed away April 11, 2019 at Jackson Health Care Facility.

He was born on September 12, 1926 to the late James and Bertie G. Outlaw at the Outlaw family home in Jackson. He was a 1944 graduate of Jackson High School. He was in the Army during World War II, serving in the Philippines and in the Occupation Forces of Japan. Dan attended Livingston State Teachers College (now The University West Alabama) and was a pitcher on the baseball team. He graduated in 1951. He spent most of his successful working career with Liberty National Insurance. He loved golf, hunting, fishing, the Atlanta Braves and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Dan was on one of the first Honor Flights to Washington D.C. from South Alabama honoring World War II veterans.

He is survived by his sons, Dee (Joni) Outlaw of Livingston, Darryl (Mary) Outlaw of Birmingham, Dale (Ouida) Outlaw of Ozark and Barry (MaryAlyce) Outlaw of Andalusia; grandchildren, Shawn (Craig) Hodge, Jess (Casey) Taylor, D.J. (Rebecca) Outlaw, Matt (Francie) Outlaw, Sarah Outlaw, Michael Outlaw, Daniel (Brittany) Outlaw, Wyatt (Hannah) Outlaw, Austin Outlaw, Josie Outlaw, Chelsea (Jeff) Williams, Cody Perrault and Jade Brooks; great-grandchildren, Zackary Hodge, Jacob Hodge, Simon Hodge, Lily Jane Williams, Porter Williams, Boone Outlaw, Sarah Francis Outlaw, Mills Outlaw, Aubree Taylor and one on the way; brother-in-law, Lamar (Dottie) Boone of Catlett, VA, brother-in-law, Jimmy Davidson of Thomasville, and sister-in-law, Betsy Boone (Doug) Walker of Jackson as well as nieces and nephews.

Dan is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy B. Outlaw; his parents; brothers, Cornell (Madge) Outlaw, Jimmy (Grace) Outlaw, Glendon and Mack (Dora Alice) Outlaw; sisters Gladys Outlaw, Mildred (Bob) Farish and Edith Outlaw; daughter Ramona Outlaw Clanton; sister-in-law, Francis Davidson and great-grandson, John Haven Outlaw.

The service was April 15 at 11:30 a.m. at Jackson United Methodist Church with Revs. Danielle May and Jim DuFriend officiating. Interment was at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Jackson.

Active pallbearers were Daniel Outlaw, Wyatt Outlaw, Austin Outlaw, D.J. Outlaw, Matt Outlaw, Michael Outlaw, Zackary Hodge, Jacob Hodge, Simon Hodge and Maurie Outlaw.

Honorary pallbearers were his nieces and nephews as well as Christie Outlaw and Cindy Howell.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Jackson First United Methodist Church Food Bank or Pilots for Christ.
