J.C. Pendleton, 87, a native of Whatley and a resident of Grove Hill was born February 28, 1934 to the parentage of the late Mr. Clarence Pendleton and the late Mrs. Arretter Bass Pendleton. He departed this life Friday, December 31, 2021 at USA Medical Center in Mobile.

At an early age Mr. Pendleton joined First Baptist Church of Whatley. He was educated in the Clarke County School System and attended Wilson Hall High School. Although his hobbies included fishing and hunting, his most favorite thing to do was spending time with his family and going on family cruises.

“Rip Saw”, as he was affectionately known, was a truck driver for 41 years, and was employed with Francis Powell Trucking Company of Grove Hill.

He is forever cherished in the hearts of his loving and devoted children: two sons, Charles (Bessie) Love of Saraland; Rev. Fernell (Brenda) Pendleton of Grove Hill; seven daughters, Diane Blake of Atlanta, Georgia; Chrissie Butler of Toledo, Ohio; Carol (Curtis) Donald of Columbus, Miss., Linda Faye Hodge of Columbus, Ohio; Sharon Pendleton Nichols and Angela Pendleton, both of Grove Hill, Dora (Wayne) Bullard of Mexia; one sibling, Velma Pendleton Silk; 34 grandchildren, one devoted Jaden Denson of Grove Hill; 16 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Earldean Pendleton; two sons, Darrel Pendleton and Rayford Pendleton; brothers, Ellis Pendleton, James Pendleton, Truman Pendleton and Bill Ollison; sisters, Helen Pendleton Kimbrough, Agusta Pendleton Green, Mae Nolia Pendleton Ely, and Annie Lou Gilliard.

The service was Saturday, January 8 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Whatley with Reverend Fernell Pendleton as the eulogist. Burial followed immediately.
