Clarke County 4-H Club members are excited to announce the Sixth Annual 4-H Pig Squeal Show and Auction Saturday, April 27th beginning at 11 a.m. in downtown Fulton.

Participants began the project in January with two feeder pigs weighing approximately 50 lbs. each. Through the course of the last four months they have fed raised and cared for the pigs. The pigs now are at their finished weight and ready for the dinner table.

The show will begin with the participants displaying their market hogs in the showmanship classes followed by the weight classes and champions selection. Upon conclusion of the show, there will be a market hog judging contest open to both participants and the public with cash prizes awarded to the winners.

The culmination of the day will be the live auction where the public can purchase a home-raised hog for their freezer.

“The 4-H youth participants have worked hard to raise a healthy quality animal ready for your freezer. Processors will be on site so that buyers will not have to take possession of the hogs; simply purchase a hog during the auction, arrange processing and in a few weeks your meat will be ready,” said Wendy Padgett, a Clarke County Extension Agent and one of the organizers of Pig Squeal.

“Everyone is invited to come out and support these youths in their project at the show. The sale will be a great opportunity to purchase a hog raised right here in your own community and fill your freezer with fresh locally raised pork,” said Clarke County Extension Agent Kevan Tucker.
