Bennie Earl Pugh, 81, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his residence.
He was born in Grove Hill on Tuesday, March 12, 1940. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church in Jackson. He had been self-employed as a cabinet maker. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Pugh; children, Tony (Tracey) Pugh, Troy (Rhonda) Pugh, Tina (Curry) Hammond, Todd Pugh; grandchildren, Jake (Shelby) Pugh, Carly (Hunter) Upton, Chloe Pugh, Hunter Pugh, Ryann Pugh, Blaiklee Pugh; greatgrandchildren, Blair Upton, Owen Upton, Ada Pugh; sisters, Janis (Frank) Hamilton, Shirley Copeland, Wynema (Bobby) Sheffield, Leavern (Willie) Nichols and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Pugh and Lethel Brunson Pugh; siblings, Lavon Pugh, Warrene Baugh and brother-in-law, Elray Copeland.
A graveside service was Friday, February 18 at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill with Rev. Fred Odom officiating.
Active pallbearers were Ivan Hamilton, Vince Hamilton, David Headley, David Sheffield, Mike Sheffield and Leon Wade.
