Teachers of Year honored

Superintendent Larry Bagley recognized Clarke County’s two teachers of the year and presented each with a plaque at the Feb. 23 school board meeting.

Shonda Bass is the Elementary Teacher of the Year. She has taught elementary school at Gillmore Elementary since 2004. She is a graduate of Jackson High School, the University of South Alabama and the University of West Alabama.

She volunteers at area nursing homes, food banks, shelter banks, praise teams and prayer groups. She is the mother of two children.

Shirley Bradley is the Secondary Teacher of the Year. She teaches at Wilson Hall Middle School and also taught at Fulton Elementary.

She is a graduate of Clarke County High School and the University of West Alabama. She and her husband, Robert, have four children.

Bagley said that she lives in Linden but is the first one to arrive at school in the mornings and the last to leave in the afternoons.
