The Thomasville High School Tigers varsity football team brought effort and execution Aug. 19 as they played the Leroy High School Bears in a jamboree game in Leroy. The THS varsity team defeated Leroy 28-0 in the first three quarters.

DeCorian Cowan ran 6 yards for a THS touchdown with 7:40 left in the first quarter. The point-after kick by Coleman Anderson was also good.

A Leroy pass was intercepted by Kyron Horn. THS had the ball on the Leroy 36- yard line. Beau Bryant passed to Charles Morris for the second TD (6:23 in the first quarter).

The point-after kick was good.

Diego Bryant scored with a 6-yard TD run (10:43 left in the second quarter). Pointafter kick was good.

As the Bears were threatening to score at the end of the second quarter, Jacori Landrum intercepted a Leroy pass (22.6 seconds in the second).

Kam Wright scored with an 11-yard TD run (7:14 in the third quarter). The point-after kick was good.

The Junior Varsity teams played in the fourth quarter, and there were no scores in that period.

“We definitely have blocking scheme issues to clean up on offense,” said THS interim head football coach Clint Anderson, “and there were at times assignment issues on the defense side. We will address those issues this week and hopefully get the same energy level this Friday.”

The Tigers will host the Class 1A state champions, the Sweet Water High School Bulldogs, on Friday, Aug. 26 at D.F. Anderson Field. Tickets are $8 with a $5 parking fee.

Season ticket packages for THS home games are still available at $75. Season tickets also include a parking pass. THS students should consider joining the “Maroon Mob” for ticket discounts.
