Twenty-seven Wilson Hall Middle School Junior Betas competed in several areas at the Seventeenth National Junior Beta Club Convention in Mobile.

Twenty-five members sang in the Songfest competition to bring home a fourth place trophy. Casen Young placed first at the state convention in speech so she was invited to compete at the national level. Shelby Sellers entered the national essay contest. Cybil Harrell’s wreath was part of the arts and crafts competition, and Jah’Myiah Pollock participated in the poetry contest.

Sponsors Ellen Pettis, Cheryl Clarke, Beverly Bush, and Annell Gordon all agreed that the students represented their school, community, and state very well with their performances and conduct throughout the convention.

Mrs. Pettis stated, “They may not have all brought home trophies, but they’re all winners with their willingness to do their very best! Grove Hill has much to be proud of in this group of young people.”
